BP Award for Excellence in Education (2007)
My 12 year old daughter has attended two terms of music rocks programs as a lead singer. Her confidence in her self and her singing has improved significantly. She was having trouble making and keeping friends at school and had general low self esteem. Through being involved with Music Rocks, she now has a small close group of friends and is so much happier in herself and much more confident and mature. Her social skills have improved 100 fold. My daughter is at her best when in front of a crowd and a video camera! She shines! Thank you music rocks and staff for allowing my daughter to show her true self through music. We will definitely continue in the program for as long as possible. I would recommend Music Rocks to all children and families regardless of their child’s temperament as this teaches team work, confidence and obviously musical skills. Thanks guys!
You know what, I can’t put into words just how much the program has meant to me (and Caitlin) as she has changed sooo much in the last 6 months. I think it’s a combination of counselling, puberty and music rocks but whatever is responsible, I have a very different child to the one I had 12 months ago. Sooo much better! Still a way to go yet… think she’d make a great diva! Ha ha.
Thanks dean

Hi Dean
About two years ago my son Zac Oubid (Lathlain Primary) was in your Music Rocks program and although he didnt play an instrument (lead singer – sometimes drums) he thoroughly enjoyed it. He now attends Como College (Year 9)and we were just talking about how great that program was. Do you have any classes after school or even on the weekends where he can be part of something like this again?
Thanks in advance
Kind regards
Caroline

Hello Dean, Reece and Darcy
Wow!!! what an awesome time you gave the kids of the Norseman District High School.
It was just magic to watch those kids engaging, showing respect and listening to you how to accept praise, trusting you enough to believe it would work for them playing the instruments and singing the songs, working and communicating as a team despite their differences, respecting the musical instruments and growing with each session in confidence and self esteem. And how about the kids who usually don’t want to be at school not wanting to leave!!??
One of the staff told me that the school has never had such a huge roll up from the parents, carers and community when the kids have been performing at the school.
Norseman will never be the same when it comes to music!! And they now know their Principal is also a good guitar player!!
Thanks from Gypsy and myself – we were tired but had a great time.
Kind Regards

Hi Dean
I’ll bet you are exhausted and really pleased to be seeing your family after being away for such a long time.
I want to thank you for your and Rhys’ and Darcy’s wonderful efforts in Leonora and Norseman. The reaction from the kids and the schools was really positive and you all deserve a medal.
Got plans for next year? We are putting in a tender for our contract next year and would very much like to include Music Rocks in it so I’d like to talk with you about it before Tuesday next week if possible please as we’ll be starting to write it on Tuesday.
You can email your invoices to me if you like at this address, and make them out to Regional Training Services.
Thanks for everything Dean and thank Rhys and Darc for us too.
Kind regards,
Sandy Bishop
